  17. <p>     When she appeared in Stand Up and Cheer which started her on
  18. her road to stardom, Shirley Temple weighed 42 lb. Now she
  19. weighs 47 lb. and is 1 1/2 in. taller. She arrives at the studio
  20. in a Dodge instead of a Ford. Her salary has gone up from $150
  21. to $1,000 per week.

  23. <p>     The story of Bright Eyes, following the rule for most
  24. pictures tailored to fit stars, is important only for the
  25. opportunities it gives Shirley Temple; to weep when she hears
  26. that her mother has gone to Heaven; to tiptoe away from her
  27. nursery when she learns that the couple she lives with do not
  28. like her; to chuckle when an aviator (James Dunn) who wants to
  29. adopt her lets her dress in his pajamas; to smile bravely when
  30. he makes a parachute jump with her in his arms; to look slyly
  31. good-humored when she is arranging the reconciliation between
  32. the aviator and his girl, which solves the question of her own
  33. future home. Shirley Temple handles all these opportunities with
  34. such childish grace and adult talent that when she returns to
  35. her old specialty in a song called "On the Good Ship Lollipop,"
  36. it is almost as if Greta Garbo were suddenly to break into
  37. "Shuffle Off to Buffalo."</p>
